Hawera Hospital opened in 2002. The purpose-built facility includes a seven bed ED and 17 Bed inpatient ward (Medical and AT&R). The Hawera Emergency Department provides a 24-hour service for the 30,000 population of South Taranaki and sees approximately 15,000 patients per year. There is a four-bed primary birthing unit and a large number of specialist outpatient clinics are held in Hawera. The South Taranaki Rural Health General Practice is also located on site at Hawera Hospital.
The Hospital has a well-equipped laboratory service and a brand new Siemens machine the radiology department. In addition, the ED has a state-of-the-art Sonosite LX USS machine available for clinician-performed ultrasounds and a team passionate about POCUS.

We need practitioners who can use their varied and broad generalist knowledge and experience to diagnose and treat patients in either a primary care and/or secondary care high acuity setting with opportunities to follow your patients admitted to the inpatient ward.
