At Kmart we are on the lookout for a dynamic and highly skilled supply chain leader to join our team as the Country Logistics Manager for our brand-new Distribution Centre (DC) in Ruakura, NZ. This state-of-the-art facility spans 80,000SQM of warehousing, distribution, storage, a container yard, and offices. As a true testament to innovation, the DC is equipped with autonomous mobile robot (AMR) technology, ensuring precise sorting of stock for efficient distribution to our stores!

We take pride in having created over 100 new jobs in the local community through this purpose built DC, which also has some great sustainability features earning it a 4-star rating including solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and electronic vehicle charging stations, just to name a few! Importantly, our DC’s position also gives us an eco-friendly connection to the neighbouring ports via rail freight transport line, creating a lower environmental impact compared to road freight.

What you’ll be doing

As a Country Logistics Manager , you will:          

• Have overall site responsibility for Ruakura Distribution Centre to oversee and optimize supply chain operations.
• Be strategically focused on delivering our future vision for this brand new site that focuses on safety, people, operational performance, customer service, strategy and commercial objectives.
• Lead and manage a team of approximately 100 staff, comprising both permanent and 3PL staff
• Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and continue to revolutionize the way we manage and distribute stock.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
• Provide strategic insights to enhance the overall effectiveness of the Distribution Centre.
• Participate actively in community and sustainability initiatives, making a positive contribution.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

• Proven leadership experience in a large- scale supply chain or logistics management.
• Adeptness in thriving amidst the complexities of a fast-paced, dynamic supply chain environment.
• Proficiency or experience in lean methodologies would be beneficial.
• A passion for sustainability and innovative solutions.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal acumen befitting a senior leadership role.
