Due to a recent resignation, we are looking to appoint an experienced Crown Counsel to join our Revenue team. The Revenue team provides legal advice and representation to Ministers and Government Departments on matters relating to Crown revenue and a range of other public law matters. This includes appearing in litigation in all courts including tax challenge proceedings, judicial review, company law matters, and appeals and common law claims against the Crown. The team’s key public sector clients include Inland Revenue, the Treasury and the NZ Customs Service.
As part of the Crown Legal Risk Group, members of the Revenue Team also assist with advice to and representation of decision makers in sectors such as primary production and natural resources, labour, immigration and citizenship, education, health, social development and health and safety.
We are seeking applications from Lawyers who have experience in litigation (preferably including dealing with tax technical matters), together with an interest in public law to enable them to take a lead role in the Group’s work and mentor and develop junior counsel.
This position is based in Wellington.
To be considered for a position at Crown Law you must have a legal right to live and work in New Zealand and are required to complete a Ministry of Justice Criminal Records Check.
