The Role
The Deputy Warden position is integral to all aspects of collegiate life. The Deputy Warden is responsible to the Warden in the effective and efficient provision of a collegiate experience for residents of Selwyn College and the wider associated community.
The Deputy Warden will provide College leadership, carrying out executive level duties as required. Core to this will be responsibility for the ‘Selwyn Experience’, safety of residents and general managerial functions.
We are seeking an exceptional individual to:
• Model strong and effective leadership for College staff and residents.
• Support the scholastic ambitions and pastoral needs of our residents.
• Assist the Warden with operational management of the College.
• Contribute to nurturing the special character of Selwyn College and developing and maintaining its reputation as one of excellence.
• Oversee the College activity and events programme and academic support initiatives.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will require:
• A passion for working with young people and education.
• The ability to establish and uphold genuine and trusted relationships with people of all backgrounds and varied life experiences.
• A natural leadership aptitude with an ability to respond to any situation in a calm and focused manner.
• The characteristics to perform effectively and professionally in a complex and challenging living and working environment.
• Knowledge and proven experience in the areas of pastoral care, community development, communications, conflict resolution and people management.
• Exceptional organisational skills and initiative.
An understanding of the experiences and complexities faced by young people in today’s world, including the transition toward independence, is also fundamental to this role.
