Stand at the stern of the canoe and feel the spray of the future biting at your face Mo te tunga | About the role The Crime Monitoring Centre is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer. This role will give you a unique opportunity to work and develop in a key growth area and you will be exposed to technologies and concepts that few other organisations can offer. This position involves conducting compliance testing and developing testing methodologies to ensure network operators meet their legislative requirements under the Telecommunications Interception Capability and Security Act 2013 (TICSA). An understanding of telecommunication network architectures, technologies and standards is essential. The successful candidate will need to engage with network operators and form working relationships with their technical staff to achieve compliance. They will represent Police in inter-agency and industry groups and forums. Key Accountabilities: * Develop, implement and maintain infrastructure and applications in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders, to support business requirements. * Provide expertise and advice on the technical interface between Telecommunications Network Operators, Service Providers and the Police. * Provide expertise and advice on handover interface standards & specifications to ensure conformity with legislation and industry/agency requirements. * Establish and maintain professional, customer-focused development services in a manner that is aligned with good practice. Below are the desired skills, knowledge, experience, and qualifications for the role but you do not necessarily need to meet all of them. * Knowledge of ETSI standards as they apply in Lawful Interception * Knowledge of networking technologies and standards * Knowledge of interface language formats such as ASN.1/BER and other network capture formats such as PCAP * Windows/Unix experience * Ability to contribute to high level design of new solutions within the group alongside solution architects and technical principles * Be self-motivated and have excellent communication, organisation and research skills. * Pay attention to detail and have the flexibility to cope with change. * Can rapidly absorb, understand and apply new concepts and technologies * Be capable of making sound decisions under pressure * Work well within a team environment * You will have a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get involved whatever is needed.
