Requirements We require a full-slack developer who gets excited by big data, machine learning, data analytics, real-time insights, inspiring teams, agile processes and business outcomes. This individual will help us grow a world class Software Team and Data pipeline process, working with our Head of Product, and Bio-mathematics and Data Science teams. So that we can not only deliver products to winemaker customers, but also continue with Research and Development within the emerging Alternative-Protein food manufacturing space. Your role involves preparing Winely for its growth phase and ensuring milestones ensure milestone are achieved, while working within a transparent manner to align and prioritize goals with your Leadership peers in Hardware, R&D, Product, Customer Success, Sales and Marketing. The role suits someone enthusiastic, an excellent and proactive communicator, systems-driven and familiar with startup/scaleup environments. You will be someone who enjoys both strategic, high level problem solving, with a sleeves-up attitude. Our hours are flexible, with the only requirement to align with the full team over parts of the day. We are headquartered in Dunedin, but with many fully remote staff spread throughout New Zealand (primarily within Auckland), there is opportunity for you to be fully remote, partially remote, or located in Dunedin. We do require you to be located in New Zealand or Australia, so that you can meet with the team on an intermittent basis. Duties & Responsibilities Working closely with the Head of Product and R&D team to help formulate and execute on Winely's cross-functional product and technological roadmap Working closely with bio-mathematicians, data scientists, and the R&D team to continuously implement and improve our Machine Learning models Managing and mentoring Software Engineers Managing the software team's processes and rituals, including attending and leading daily standups, weekly planning meetings, and quarterly milestone meetings Reporting on the software team's core metrics to the rest of the business Communicating future hiring requirements and leading the hiring process for your team Driving continuous improvement and implementing engineering best practices Ensures all development has measurable outcome oriented goals before being built. Ensuring the Software team are developing under a process where we have alignment, transparency and prioritisation Attributes required 10 years+ in Software Development Experience in Startup environments and building high-growth teams Experience in big data sets and application of models within Machine Learning environments 5+ years in a management or leadership role of other Engineers Experience in TypeScript, Angular, React, JavaScript, MongoDB would be ideal. Experience with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure or similar products. Diplomatic, open, honest and constructive interpersonal skills. To communicate effectively any team issues and concerns to the business leadership team (CEO, CPO, COO) and other senior Heads of Department stakeholders Strong business acumen.
