Permanent role - 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday Stunning large Retirement village setting in Takanini - work close to home Work outside with a great team Excellent employee benefits offered About the role Our dedicated team at Longford Park Village in Takanini are looking for a Head Gardener to join them. This stunning village set across 11 acres of lush grounds has a great resident community and is seeking an experienced gardener to work in this 'hands on role' maintaining and developing gardens for our residents and visitors to enjoy! This is a full-time permanent role working Monday to Friday. As a passionate gardener, the main responsibilities you will oversee include: Establishing new planting as required to maintain standard of gardens (plants, shrubs, trees etc), making sure the right plants are put in the right area for the village to maintain ascetics, seasonal changes and future management. Managing and supervising 2 direct reports Utilising the garden maintenance feedback to prioritise requests and maintain communication to Village Manager and residents around planned works. Putting together and actioning planned maintenance programs Maintenance of gardening equipment and ensuring it is used as per instructions and staff are trained in appropriate use of equipment. Supervise contractors landscaping and grounds work. Liaise with Village Manager to identify and purchase all items for development and maintenance of gardens and grounds. About you This is a great role to make your own and shape the landscape at the Village. You'll be confident in your gardening abilities and able to communicate with a range of people. Other skills required include: Previous Horticultural experience as a Gardener or Landscaper is essential, and a passion for gardening and ground maintenance. Clean full Driver's License Thorough knowledge of gardening and landscaping methods for this 'hands on role' Strong technical knowledge Be physically fit as you'll need to operate garden machinery. Staff management experience would be advantageous.
