We are looking for someone to lead and strengthen the Services New Zealand team in charge of organising the biggest women’s sporting event in the world: the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia New Zealand 2023™. To ensure the successful operational delivery of the ninth edition of this competition, we have set up a local events team. Its aim is to improve the experience of over 1.1 billion people watching the FIFA Women’s World Cup™, by delivering innovative solutions across all operational areas. We are currently looking to recruit our Head of Services New Zealand Job responsibilities As the Head of Services New Zealand, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be in charge of the successful operational implementation of event services at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. Under the guidance of the Chief Operating Officer and FIFA Director Services and relevant Heads of departments, you will build a multi-disciplinary team to delivery Accommodation, Travel, Transport, Guest Operations and Experience, and Event Logistics services to all client groups. As Head of Services, you will act as the ‘centre of competence’ on any relevant event strategy and operational developments (actual or future), and will represent the Chief Operating Officer on all Event Services matter. As a leader, you should be able to harness your team’s motivation and channel it towards staging a highly successful FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. You will work in close collaboration with Functional Area experts based in FIFA HQ in Zurich to ensure that the Services projects of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023TM are successfully planned and implemented. Job duties Your role as the Head of Services New Zealand includes the following responsibilities: Assume overall responsibility for successful implementation of the following projects: Accommodation, Travel, Transport, Guest Operations and Experience, Event Logistics Collaborate with all relevant departments and sub-divisions within FIFA, ensuring that appropriate conditions are provided together with relevant FIFA stakeholders, stadium/venue owners, host associations, local authorities and third-party entities Integrate the requirements and regulations of all responsible projects in the Master Project Plan and manage the detailed budget of your departments Manage the administration and members of the Services sub-division team. As a key member of the management team, work collaboratively with colleagues across Australia, in New Zealand and Zürich as defined by the operational organizational structure Qualifications & experience You should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in international sports event management ideally in Australia and abroad, with a minimum of 8 years managing teams delivering services for events. You will have knowledge of event planning and event project management processes, including a project management certification such as PRINCE2 or PMP. Skills This position requires a leader with the ability to negotiate, cooperate and make decisions by applying critical problem-solving skills. As a team leader, it is important that you take an inclusive approach and are able to motivate others towards a common purpose. You must be able to delegate tasks appropriately while being transparent and assuming accountability for any decisions taken on your watch. A high degree of innovation, passion and vision is essential, and you will be able to hire, develop, coach, appraise and attain highly qualified personnel according to the organisational structure of the local events team.. The demands of the job mean you must be highly resilient and organised, as well as able to manage conflict and communicate clearly.
