- ICU Registrar (HAW07359)ICU Registrar:HAW07359 Full time, permanent or fixed term positions 6 month or 12 month attachments There are exciting opportunities for Registrars to join Te Whatu Ora Hawke’s Bay in full time positions. Applications are invited for the position of Intensive Care Registrars for next year commencing as soon as possible and/or the 2024 training year. The Intensive Care Unit offer supportive working conditions and are committed to excellent teaching. Hawke’s Bay Hospital is a 400 bed hospital providing acute and elective care for the Hawke's Bay region. We have most major medical and surgical subspecialties on site (except cardiothoracic and neurosurgery), as well as paediatrics and O&G. We are well supported by a strong regional ICU team. We have strengthening Primary and Community health services and an increasingly integrated approach to health and health care. About the Role Our Intensive Care Unit serves both Intensive Care and High Dependency patients. We have a large multidisciplinary team of nurses, doctors and allied health professionals that form part of the Intensive Care whanau. We admit both adult and paediatric patients and provide an inter-hospital transport service within Hawke’s Bay and to tertiary referral centres. Registrars undertake flight training as part of their orientation programme. Working in Hawkes’ Bay offers an excellent opportunity for both fixed and rotary wing transfers, in addition to road transfers, across the beautiful motu. The Unit is currently accredited as a C12 unit under the CICM training program, with endorsements for General, Rural and Paediatric training. We provide supportive working conditions, at all hours, with a team committed to learning and professional development. Teaching is across a wide variety of domains in a multidisciplinary learning model. We are moving towards also incorporating simulation training in a more prominent role within our framework. We have supported CICM candidates through Part 1 and Part 2 examinations as well as examinations in other disciplines. A number of trainees have completed their CICM research project requirement during their time with us In addition, non training registrars have competed research projects that have been published in peer reviewed journals. All registrars have the opportunity to participate in quality and research activities within the department. We welcome enthusiastic and committed Registrars from varied backgrounds typically - Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine, Medicine, Surgery and Anaesthesia. Other trainees such as Palliative Care and Rural Medicine have also been accommodated in the past.
