Canterbury Health Laboratories is the largestmedical laboratory in the South Island and is a secondary/tertiary referralcentre. Our laboratory is open 24 hours a day, providing timely results toour clinicians to ensure our patients are getting the right treatment, at theright time.
Our Virology/Serology department is proud of itsstatus as a leading-edge specialist laboratory providing diagnostic testingutilising molecular and immunoassay techniques on automated platforms. Thedepartment operates from 6am till midnight, 7 days per week.
This position is fixed term to cover two periods ofparental leave.
The department utilises a 6-week rotating roster whichincludes day shift (0800-1700 or 0600-1430), and evening shift (1600-2400).
We are looking for a recent BMLSc graduate with aninterest in Molecular Microbiology and/or Infectious Serology to fill thisintern MLS position. You must be registered (or eligible for registration) withthe New Zealand Medical Laboratory Science Council and hold a current AnnualPractising Certificate.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivatedteam player with excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail. In addition, you will possess effective time management skills and be able towork independently. We will support you to gain full registration with theMedical Sciences Council.
