About the role:
We are seeking a leader who can drive data science across ESR by creating business outcomes and impacts from internal and external data through building strong relationships with external stakeholders and internal business groups.
The role involves development and execution of data science strategy, building staff capability in data science and maximising opportunities to create successful data science projects and products.

To be successful in the role of Lead Data Scientist you will need to have a successful track record in data science research and technologies, creating business outcomes from data including revenue generation, development of commercial data science products, research innovation, successful research grant applications and have published in data science journals. You will need to be well networked in government and private sectors, and have strong relationship building skills.
You will be capable of providing specialist advice, developing and executing strategy and monitoring progress. You are able to successfully mobilise a whole organisation to achieve data science goals and provide meaningful guidance, mentoring and training in a range of contexts.
You will have strong skills in a range of data science techniques which may include artificial intelligence, machine learning, data visualisation, and statistical methods. You will also be proficient with software such as SQL, R, Python, SAS and management of code. These skills will enable you to support a variety of projects and activities.
