is currently seeking to make permanent appointments at the Pūkenga | Lecturer, Pūkenga Matua | Senior Lecturer, or Ahonuku | Associate Professor level in Psychology with expertise in Māori and Indigenous Psychology.
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is New Zealand’s first-ranked university for research, and the Te Kura Mātai Hinengaro | School of Psychology has an outstanding record and reputation in its teaching, public engagement, and research. The School hosts research laboratories in many of psychology’s specialty areas: cognition, learning, social, cross-cultural, developmental, behavioural neuroscience, neuropsychology, clinical, and forensic psychology. Importantly, the School of Psychology has a strong commitment to equity and diversity, and specifically to bicultural practice in research and teaching consistent with the principles of the Te Triti o Waitangi.
Te Kura Mātai Hinengaro has a thriving body of Māori students, and a dedicated whānau space for students, and enthusiasm from both staff and students for building upon our existing bicultural curriculum within our new Bachelor of Psychology and Major in Māori Psychology. Ō pūmanawa - About you
The successful applicant will be familiar with Kaupapa Māori scholarship and the intersection of Māori and Western based knowledge in psychology. You will be able to teach and supervise indigenous and bicultural psychology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, add to existing strengths in teaching and supervision, and ideally complement existing research concentrations in Te Kura Mātai Hinengaro and more broadly at Te Herenga Waka.
Key Requirements:
For appointment at Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor level, a significant level of leadership in teaching, research and engagement commensurate with these roles will be required.
