Do you want to make a positive difference to the protection of New Zealand’s border from serious threats, the facilitation of legitimate trade and travel, and the collection of customs and excise revenue on behalf of the Crown.

We have a new opportunity for an experienced management accountant to deliver actionable insight and financial leadership to help Customs’ managers improve and manage their financial performance.

The Management Accountant helps managers to plan and prioritise financial resources, evaluate financial performance, improve financial capability, and implement financial controls.  The portfolio will be mostly Auckland-based managers focused on a variety of functions in Operations.

To be successful in the role, you will have had experience in a medium to large organisation and be able to demonstrate your achievements in…

  • Building effective working relationships and delivering a service that engages managers
  • Having the curiosity to proactively explore and assess financial information, apply business knowledge and ask the right questions
  • Assembling and organising data, and ensuring it has integrity
  • Analysing financial data and information to explore and spot patterns, and using analysis to form objective conclusions, create forward looking information and solve problems
  • Communicating financial information and stories in a way that engages managers, enables them to take action, and is clear and concise.
