About the Role

We are looking for a creative professional with a technical background in software development and data management to lead a group of developers to meet customers’ needs. This role leads a team of five to deliver data infrastructure products and tools to support open data and data reuse needs for LINZ. This includes leading the development and operations of specialist geospatial platform products and tools that support data storage, access and use.


What you will do:

  • Leading the operations and development of Data Services products and systems
  • Ensuring our products and tools are functioning well and available to our internal and external customers
  • Leading the development and implementation of standards and tools for geospatial metadata APIs to support the effective use of LINZ data
  • Agreeing challenging goals and clear expectations with team members


Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in customer centred product-oriented delivery in IT software development
  • Expertise in either data management, data science, business intelligence, geospatial or analytics fields
  • Experience developing and implementing modern software best practices and supporting methods, including Agile and DevOps
  • Experience working in open source collaborative environments
  • A passion and strength for people management
