The Mental Health & Addiction directorate of the Ministry of Health is dedicated to ensuring mental health and addiction services are strong, sustainable and safe for all New Zealanders. Our focus is on delivering on He Ara Oranga – The Inquiry response priority programmes.

 

The role of Manager Primary & Community Wellbeing is new and reports to the Group Manager Primary & Community Wellbeing. Leading the team of Advisors, Senior Advisors and Portfolio Managers, you will be tasked with leading and managing the work within the group to ensure that key contracting and reporting milestones are achieved. This includes ensuring the capacity and capability for the group is suitable to deliver the groups work plan.

 

The programme of work includes the implementation of the Wellbeing Budget 2019 initiatives to improve access to and choice of Primary & Community mental health and addiction services, along with a broader work programme associated with improving the mental health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders.

 

The work programmes have a range of workstreams, with contributions from across a range of teams. You will be responsible for maintaining oversight of the various components, managing the dependencies and risks between programmes, resolving issues, overseeing change control processes and reporting to key stakeholders.

 

In addition to having responsibility for the development and care of the team members, you will also be an active ‘do-er’ with project management expertise. To be successful, you will have a strategic lens so that you can maintain a high level oversight of how the programmes are being driven and where they fit into the overall , as well as the ability to lead and drive the team on tactical implementation. Combined, this will support the Ministry to deliver the strategy and corresponding strategic priorities of the Primary & Community Programme.

 

Your ability to build collaborative relationships across a range of teams, as well as with executives and other stakeholders is paramount to ensure deliverables are achieved. You will be well versed at managing staff and delivering strategic projects to budget and on time.
