The Risk and Assurance team provides independent and objective assurance, risk and advisory services that support Oranga Tamariki management in the delivery of our strategic priorities and accountabilities.

 

About the role:

The Manager Risk and Assurance is one of four managers reporting to the General Manager Governance and Assurance. The Manager Risk and Assurance is responsible for:

 

  • establishing and putting in place the frameworks and tools that set the expectations around risk management and assurance within Oranga Tamariki
  • managing the effective delivery of the assurance plan
  • developing and leading a team of trusted advisors with a balance of skills in risk management and assurance
  • supporting the independent Risk and Assurance Committee of Oranga Tamariki.

 

This is a significant role operating in fast-paced environment where you can challenge and define how risk and assurance is delivered.

 

About the successful candidate:

As the successful appointee, you will be a key contributor in the Oranga Tamariki Governance and Assurance team. You will have the ability to engage and influence people at various levels across the organisation, public sector and the local community. Significant experience operating at a managerial level coupled with your skill in applying critical-thinking and innovative techniques to the delivery of risk and business assurance work will put you in good stead to succeed in this role. In addition, to be credible, you will be:

 

  • an experienced manager who brings a strong professional interest in using their skills and experience to help organisation’s succeed
  • technically proficient across the spectrum of risk and assurance activities (including business assurance, process and control assessment and assurance, and risk advice)
  • comfortable navigating through periods of ambiguity and change and able to assist and advise other drawing on the risk and assurance tool box to identify and manage risk appropriately in that type of environment
  • ideally have previous experience within the Government and public sector.
