The Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all.
The Training and Agency Guidance team is a new team, created in response to the extensive volume and breadth of training and guidance needed now and in the future. The team will be responsible for both internal and external training programmes focused on operational practices, and will seek to review, streamline and lead continuous improvement of those programmes to forge a learning model that is fit for the future. The team will also deliver agency guidance activities and interventions, including responding to advice requests and developing guides and case notes to help inform the work of public sector agencies.
This a rare opportunity to recruit and lead a new team to develop, plan and implement a future operating model for training and agency guidance. You will work closely with the Senior Assistant Ombudsman to identify the resource requirements of the team and bring that vision to life. You will also work to ensure shared thinking, alignment and integration across the work of other key teams throughout the office, such as the People and Capability team, and teams within the Strategic Engagement and Development Group.

Depending on skills and experience the salary is expected to be between $115,000 and $150,000.
