The role

Fire and Emergency New Zealand are seeking a National Manager People Services. Reporting through to the DCE, People, this role will participate as a member of the newly established People Branch Leadership team and will contribute to the ongoing development and effectiveness of the Branch. This includes contributing to the overall leadership of the Branch; participating in the development of Branch strategies, long and short-term priorities and working with peers to invest in the engagement, wellbeing and performance of Branch staff and teams.

The National Manager People Services is responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing continuous improvement of the People Branch services model nationally, which introduces an integrated relationship approach to the way we work. This role will have a strong relationship management focus and will work alongside regional leadership teams, the People Branch team and other key stakeholders to develop, implement and imbed a People Branch service delivery model into the organisation.

Please note that regular travel will be involved to the regions.

About you

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • A depth of knowledge and experience across generalist HR
  • Senior-level experience working in a collaborative leadership environment
  • Proven experience in the establishment of successful business partnership/HR operating models
  • Experience in leading a high-performing team across a large geographically dispersed and complex organisation
  • Proven experience in developing and operationalising workforce plans
