Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We have a 12-month fixed term Neurodevelopmental fellowship position available in our Tū Māia team, based at Greenlane Clinical Centre. This accredited trainee position will enable you to gain advanced knowledge and skills in neurodevelopmental medicine and working in youth forensic service. This role will consist of both clinical duties and education/training activities.
Tū Māia was suitably named as the rangatahi and whānau using the service are predominantly Māori and are thought to be brave and courageous engaging in the court ordered comprehensive assessment processes whereby highly personal information is sought and shared after a very short period of engagement with the clinicians and cultural advisors.
Tū Māia provides consultation, assessments, Court ordered reports, Court based Liaison Services and short focused interventions for young offenders presenting to the youth justice system with neurodevelopmental and/or mental health issues. We also provide care for adolescent residents at the secure youth justice facilities in South Auckland.
You will be developing and providing specialist paediatric services for young people under the care of Tū Māia and the Kari Centre Neurodevelopmental team. You will be providing comprehensive assessments and the ongoing care and treatment of young people with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental disorders, in the context of their family/whanau beliefs and values.
