We are excited to be able to offer a new Senior Nurse role in the Bay of Plenty Mental Health and Addictions service, the position is working as the Nurse Manager in Acute Adult Inpatients and managing optimal patient flow.
This is a rare opportunity to work across the district looking after our diverse population in the Eastern and Western Bay of Plenty in a period of substantial and systematic transformation of mental health and addiction services.
In this role you will be working within the acute adult mental health and addiction inpatient units (Te Toki Maurere in Whakatāne and Te Whare Maiangiangi in Tauranga). This includes working with a multidisciplinary clinical team and liaising with other areas of service provision that have an acute interface.
The role provides strategic leadership and service improvement activity to ensure quality outcomes for Tangata Whaiora and to ensure service standards and care delivery align with Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand standards and contemporary mental health and addiction strategies, standards, transformation, and practice. The role will contribute to and enable achievement of Te Pae Tata (Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022) in the domain of Oranga Hinengaro.
You will work with Whakatāne and Tauranga clinicians in a number of cross-district service relationships that include addiction services and mental health services for older people.

You will be an enthusiastic, courageous and passionate nursing clinician who is a suitably qualified Senior Registered Mental Health Nurse with excellent problem-solving skills, coordination, operational and acute mental health care experience.
Experience in leadership including quality improvement and performance reporting is an important requirement.
Applicants should have sound experience in successfully partnering with Māori and their whānau to deliver services that are culturally safe and elevate Te Ao Māori solutions for effective care.
