Are you an experienced Outage Planner with a strong technical background in distribution networks, including overhead and underground systems? We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team in Wellington. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating outages, leveraging your expertise in both distribution networks and high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) switching to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our electrical infrastructure.
The Role:
Reporting to the Projects Delivery Manager you will be the primary contact for any communication regarding planned outages. You will be using our client outage request system to ensure high quality and timely submission are done to streamline the workflow (EDNAR)
You’ll also:
- Plan and schedule outages for maintenance, upgrades, and repairs in overhead and underground distribution networks.
- Coordinate with field staff and technicians with experience and knowledge in HV and LV switching to execute outage activities safely and effectively.
- Develop outage plans that consider network topology, equipment specifications, switching procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Communicate outage schedules, procedures, and safety guidelines to field staff and other stakeholders.
- Analyze outage data and performance metrics to optimize outage planning processes and enhance network reliability.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to prioritize outage activities and minimize disruptions to customers.
- Stay up-to-date on industry best practices, standards, and technologies related to distribution network operations and outage planning.

About you
To be considered for this role you’ll need to have a minimum of five years of distribution network experience (both in overhead and underground). You also have:
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field would be preferred
- Extensive experience in outage planning for distribution networks, with a focus on overhead and underground systems.
- Strong technical background in HV and LV switching operations and safety protocols.
- Knowledge of distribution network equipment, configurations, and maintenance practices.
- Previous experience working with field staff and technicians in outage coordination and execution.
- Proficiency in outage management systems, planning tools, and data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to outage planning and network reliability.
