For 135 years, Harrison Grierson has been planning the future of New Zealand, making our mark on tomorrow – one project at a time. Using the latest technologies and ideas, we shape new and sustainable environments, making life better for everyone.

The size of our organisation is something our employees love; we’re not too big or too small, so you quickly become an integral part of the business from day one. As we grow, so too does the talented team of people around us.

That’s where you come in

We’re looking for an intermediate-level Planner to join the growing team of planners, engineers, and surveyors preferably at our Wellington office.

You’ll either have recently finished a graduate program with 3 years experience or maybe your more developed as a Planner with 7 years of experience. You’ll have planning policy and consenting experience within New Zealand, including policy and plan making, legislative reviews, as well as preparing and processing resource consents. You’ll have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and will be eager to learn from experienced colleagues.

You’ll have a good understanding of resource management issues and New Zealand Resource Management Act legislation with experience of working with district plans. You should have a New Zealand-based Planning tertiary qualification and although membership with NZPI is preferable, you must be eligible for membership and working towards it. You enjoy working in a smaller, friendly, and collaborative environment with solutions-focused colleagues.

What you’ll be doing

The role will be reporting to the Planning Manager – Tauranga and working closely with and supporting the Senior Planners. We have a wide variety of work for you to get stuck into, including consenting, preparing resource consent application, policy planning, and master planning for residential subdivisions and commercial developments. You’ll have the support from experienced Planning colleagues to help you learn and grow.

What can we offer?

We’re committed to investing in our people and creating high performers. We’ll provide you with the support, learning, and development to help you grow and take the next step in your career. We provide for work life balance including opportunities for flexible hours and working conditions as well as a dedicated wellness programme.
