About us and the role
Our previous Project Coordinator has just been promoted toa Project Manager role, so we're looking for the next person to join the project, working very closely with our project team - providing project coordination, administrative support, reporting (including financial reporting), contract management, and procurement. But this is no ordinary project coordinator role, you'll have the opportunity to work on a unique project that will leave a lasting legacy on the city, and it's spiritual heart Te Ngākau Civic Square. Learning and development will be a constant component of the role.
You'll have the opportunity to learn from an experienced team - including an accomplished Project Director as well as the role's manager, Andrea Thomas who has previously worked on the creation of the Waitohi Hub in Johnsonville. She puts her trust in people and creates the environment for them to do their best. The emphasis is on teamwork - Andrea will take the rubbish out and make the tea too! There's no micromanagement, plenty of humour and no hierarchy.
The team is small, but vital - everyone plays a part at the centre of the project.
A bit about you
We're looking for someone who is flexible, able to work at pace, and happy to go out of their comfort zone. You'll have the usual attributes of a project coordinator - attention to detail, great time management and organisation skills, excellent communication skills and a customer service orientation. You can find out more in the position description. But more than that, we want someone who is keen to work on a project that will play a key part in reinvigorating Te Ngākau Civic Square and also creating a space that Wellingtonians will use and enjoy for generations.
You'll be based at our Boulcott Street offices, and you'll get your own hard hat and steel capped boots for site visits. You'll be exposed to working with our executive leadership team and elected members, as well as a dynamite team of external consultants and contractors.
Why us?
Working for the Council offers you a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, flexible working options, health and wellbeing support, Council staff discounts and a range of learning and development programmes and opportunities.
You'll be playing a part in making Pōneke an inclusive, sustainable and creative capital for people to live, work and play.
