Adult Mental Health and Addiction Services are seeking applications from a vocationally registered psychiatrist, interested in working in the rural health setting.
The current development of the rural specialty, and the work in hand to progress integrated services across the Coast, offer you the opportunity to become involved in the design of an optimal service for the future. Opportunity to become a member of the Rural Special Interest group.
This mental health team is small. You will be one of a team of several psychiatrists (3 FTE) working collegially with a stable and experienced workforce to provide specialist services to a population of approximately 32,000 people. We have good systems in place that support collegial relationships and professional development.
Rural services requires a high degree of flexibility, as the work is diverse, The role is essentially for a generalist and may include responsibility for aspects of general adult psychiatry (community and inpatient), addictions, older persons and child and adolescents. The exact range of clinical responsibilities will be negotiated in regard to your experience, interests and the Service needs.
