Salary: NZ$105,000-140,000 for 28 hours per week

Introduction:
Be part of New Zealand’s public health sector including this mental health service which has a good international reputation and is renowned academically as being our largest teaching hospital. Mental Health Services work closely in alliance with the University of Auckland and its faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. There is a patient-focused partnership which aims to speed the translation of research from the bench to the bedside. This patient-centred approach underpins the development of their health workforce, informs research strategies, invigorates clinical teaching and ensures that scientific breakthroughs and advances in medical care reach their patients faster.
Taylor Centre provides a multi-disciplinary, recovery focussed service for clients living in Central Auckland. The Care and Recovery Service provides a comprehensive range of therapeutic treatment options in collaboration with service users, their families/whānau, local communities and the Multi-Disciplinary Team within the CMHC. This is achieved through the assessment and management of the complex health needs of service users, with the provision of effectively planned care that supports them to manage their overall healthcare needs.
We have a current vacancy for a Psychiatrist to join the team.
This is an opportunity to be a part of a service that will support excellent clinical care into the future, as well as offering the chance to develop your existing Mental Health knowledge and nursing skills in an established and multidisciplinary work environment. Applicants will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills. This is ideal for a Mental Health Nurse who has experience and skills working with people from a range of cultural backgrounds and who relates to people who are mental Health Service Users in a respectful, warm and professional manner.
Primary Requirements Include but aren’t limited to:
•Registerable with the New Zealand Medical Council to practice Psychiatry;
•FRANZCP or equivalent;
•Experience and qualified in working collaboratively with clients, families, multi-disciplinary teams in both inpatient and community settings;
•Keen interest in working with people who have complex health needs;
•Excellent working knowledge of the NZ mental health field including relevant legislation, eg the Mental Health Act;
•Three years or more clinical practice in mental health;
•Committed to a multi-cultural practice;
•Sound understanding and commitment to Recovery Principles;
•High standard of English fluency including verbal and written communications;
•PC literacy;
•Able and willing to commit at least 2-3 years to begin with; and
•Meet requirements for a work visa.
Primary job responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
•Provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment in collaboration with the service user, their family/whanau and carers with the multi-disciplinary team to promote recover;
•Be part of a team which has a strong commitment to collaboration between clients, family, staff and their services;
•Be part of interagency liaison, training while contributing to ongoing service development;
•Be part of an on-call roster;
•Enjoy great support and equally impressive diversity utilising a variety of evidence based therapies and case management;
•Thrive professional in providing your clinical expertise and knowledge to most areas of mental health.
•Be part of a collaborative based team;
•Key Accountabilities are in the areas of (a) Clinical Case Management, (b) Communication and Liaison, (c) Teaching and Supervision, (d) Service Development, (e) Cultural Safety and (f) Professional Development details of which are available via a position description.
