Contract: Permanent – full time

Salary: $53,000 to $72,000


Regional Public Health has adopted an Empowered Communities Approach that will deliver services in an effective and empowering way and will support more community-led development. The Community Action on Youth and Drugs (CAYAD) team works to reduce drug and alcohol related harm for and with young people and other at-risk populations.

We are looking for an Advisor to help deliver the CAYAD work programme with community, government and voluntary groups. You will contribute information and knowledge about your area, projects, programmes and sector and you will be required to implement relevant projects that make a clear difference, establish and sustain effective networks and facilitate and participate in partnerships to achieve strategic outcomes. Being able to build effective relationships with public health organisations, community and voluntary groups and regional and central government agencies is essential.


Having proven experience with tikanga Māori and understanding of Te Ao Māori would be an advantage, you will have public health and/or community development experience, an interest in youth development, and be motivated to work with communities to design and deliver solutions. You will be comfortable providing advice and influencing at all levels, and at ease with community and institutional stakeholders. You will have a Bachelor’s degree and/or a relevant Public Health experience.

Ideally you will have a full NZ driver’s licence or can travel independently across the region. You will also have to self-manage a working week to include attending community events outside of traditional working hours.
