Service: Endocrine, Diabetes & Research Centre Contract: Permanent, Part Time (0.8 FTE) - (0800-16:30 x 4 days a week - currently Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri but days may be negotiable) Salary: Step 4 to Step 7 on the RN scale of the NZNO/HNZ collective agreement, according to experience along with proficient/expert PDRP allowance if applicable Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role The Registered Nurse (RN) role is to meet the needs of people and whanau accessing our services using contemporary nursing care, which is safe, appropriate and effective. The care is based on comprehensive assessment, ensures continuity, and is person/whānau centred, culturally appropriate and evidence based. Quality improvement and patient safety is an important part of this role. The RN position is a competent nurse who works with patients with endocrine and diabetes issues to achieve good management of the issue across different teams as needed. The RN will work closely with the senior nurses for clinical support for endocrine and diabetes patient through their management plan and education. The RN will have the desire to develop their knowledge and build their skills in endocrine as well as a number of diabetes nursing areas and will progress through the professional recognition development programme (PDRP) and work towards being accredited on the diabetes accreditation framework. The RN will respond to the changing needs of the district, performing other tasks as required. The RN is expected to contribute to the implementation of District and nursing goals and values, and to promote Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley as a centre of excellence for nursing practice. Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team The Vision for the Endocrine, Diabetes and Research Centre (EDRC) is to be a centre of excellence providing patient centred care, that empowers patients and their families to maximise their ability to self-manage their endocrine and diabetes related health. The EDRC at Capital Coast is a specialist regional Hospital and Health Service with four fundamental inter-related components: 1.Endocrine specialist medical clinics 2.Diabetes specialist medical clinics 3.Specialist diabetes community management and support nursing service 4.Diabetes Research Centre The specialist services target prevention, assessment and complex clinical management of high-risk populations. Each of these services has a strong out-reach dimension with clinics based on other facilities including Kenepuru Hospital and Kapiti Health Centre (outreach). These services all work with primary providers in the region by offering consultation and support to manage complex cases that are referred to them. Diabetes management and support incorporates a community dietetic service and a secondary podiatry service.
