We are inviting applications for a permanent Section Leader role within Anatomic Pathology Services. This position is 40 hours a week and you will be part of the 24/7 roster.

Anatomical Pathology Services is a major referral laboratory for the Auckland region including private hospitals. This means we report on a broad range of specimens. To service this diversity we have an experienced team with specialist knowledge. We are fortunate to have a large number of Consultant Pathologists with considerable experience. We also have a very proficient Scientific and Technical team all working together to provide a quality service.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a strong “hands on” approach to the work done in this section and to be actively involved in maintaining and writing standard operating procedures as well as supervising staff. You will be expected to contribute towards quality improvements with a key requirement and focus on service delivery. Strong supervisory skills including open communication, mentorship, integrity, self-awareness, courage, respect, empathy, and gratitude will be greatly desired.

If you’re applying for the Section Leader position, you should ideally be a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a medical laboratory; you will hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate. Preferred candidate with a Graduate level degree in Pathology or related.
