We are looking for an experienced and qualified Mortuary Technician/Scientist with leadership skills and attributes to supervise a team in this intersecting field of medicine and law. This role will provide you the privilege to lead a team of Forensic Pathology technicians in theatre and be a part of the pathway for our deceased and their bereaved family

About the position
In this role you will be supporting the effective delivery of a family focused coronial and non-coronial post mortem service.

Based at Auckland City Hospital, you will lead and supervise a team of Forensic Pathology technicians including trainee technicians ensuring smooth running, efficient workflow and service delivery to the greater Auckland region, and the Northern Forensic Pathology Service. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday to Friday with rostered on-call duties. Reporting to the Technical Head of Forensic Pathology, you will have the overall responsibility for the day to day running and operation of the autopsy suite and technician rosters and duties.

In addition to supervising, you will work in a team with other technicians to assist the Forensic Pathologists with a wide variety of post-mortem examinations including cases of sudden natural deaths, suspicious deaths and homicides, as well as undertake other day-to-day operational duties to support the service. You will also participate in the in-house post-mortem CT scanning service, as well as assist with hospital post-mortems and the perinatal (non-coronial) post-mortem service.

Associated responsibilities include some technician training, rosters, completion of quality, health and safety audits, management of the CT suite and the daily operations associated with the service.
