Job Description Role Requirements Remuneration We are seeking emergency medicine senior house officers (PGY2+) for six and twelve-month attachments starting with immediate effect and for 12 month contracts starting January 2024 in established and accredited FACEM basic and advanced training programs with some of the highest FACEM pass rates in Australasia. This job offers: ACEM Tier 2 site with accreditation for 24 months of training.It is also accredited for Paediatric Emergency Medicine and the Paediatric Logbook components of the training programme. Australasian Level 4 regional trauma centre with approximately 55,000 presentations per annum. Satisfy your ACEM Critical Care component with a dedicated six month rotation in Anaesthesia Supplement your Emergency Medicine training with excellent non-ED accredited runs in General Medicine, Cardiology, Paediatric Medicine Be a part of established Primary and Fellowship examination programmes Successful candidates will join a vibrant and experienced team of international physicians working in the emergency department (ED) of a regional general hospital, lead by over 20 FACEMS. The ED sees a large volume of trauma due to its large rural catchment area, as well as high acuity paediatric and adult medical patients. There is excellent exposure to critical procedures and a vast range of complex pathology. There is access to all medical and surgical subspecialties with the exception of cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery and plastic surgery. For junior trainees, there is a highly supported and successful Primary examination teaching programme with one of the highest success rates across Australasia. The Fellowship examination preparation programme is run by FACEMs who are on the ACEM Council of Education Fellowship Exam Writing Group. The department also offers an embedded mentoring programme which aligns with the ACEM mentoring strategy. In addition there are opportunities for clinical research and involvement in departmental non-clinical portfolios by agreement. For FACEM advanced trainees there is the opportunity to apply for the Senior Registrar role, which brings exposure to leadership and management. Key Duties and Responsibilities Clinical - you will work under the supervision of FACEMs to provide acute medical assessment and treatment to patients presenting to the emergency department. Work is on a rostered shift basis which includes day and hight shifts. Education and Training: attend weekly, structured, protected teaching programme which is consultant led and delivered using an array of teaching strategies (tutorials, simulation sessions, clinical skills workshops, morbidity and mortality meetings, clinical radiology sessions) and features dedicated paediatric emergency medicine teaching.Both the Primary and Fellowship examination programme sessions are delivered weekly in addition to the protected teaching programme. Role Requirements To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Registrar in Emergency Medicine, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history: Medical Degree Eligibility for Medical Council of New Zealand registration under the general pathway A minimum of 3 years postgraduate experience including internship or foundation training with at least 6 months experience in emergency medicine.
