Te Tari Pureke Firearms Safety Authority is a branded business unit of the New Zealand Police with the purpose of enabling Aotearoa New Zealand to be a world leader in arms safety through an effective regulatory and administrative approach to the Arms Act and Arms Regulations.Established to lead, operate, and develop investment in modernisation of the firearms system, Te Tari Pureke work to ensure a safer, more efficient, and effective risk-based licensing system, with the desire to improve public confidence in the firearms licensing system.This is enabled through opportunities in harm prevention via transparent, high quality, consistent, legislatively correct, and effective regulatory activities.This is delivered via world leading administration, education, and promotion of compliance within the provisions of the Arms Act and Arms Regulations.Mo Te Tira Takitahi About your workgroup Te Tira Takitahi is the kaupapa Maori triage hub for Te Tari Pureke and currently nestled within the Partnerships Directorate to support our branded business unit on delivering against our regulatory strategy, and our commitment to being a Tiriti champion and an employer of choice. Whanaungatanga building enduring relationships and partners Manaakitanga Influencing, guiding, holding space to ensure others fell seen and heard Mana respectful power-sharing and decision-making Mahaki humility when sharing knowledge and experience(s) Whakarongo Listening to hear and understand Mo te tunga About the role The purpose of the Senior Partnerships Advisor - Iwi, is to determine and manage needs and concerns from, for, and with the Maori firearms user perspective via partnering with Maori communities, hapu and key Maori groups, to build relationships at a needs-based level The role of the Senior Partnerships Advisor- Iwi, is to develop and deliver the pathways programmes (cultural safety, cultural intelligence, and cultural capability) and progress our Iwi Management Plans.The workstreams will see you grow transactional relationships into sustainable and meaningful partnerships internally with managers, districts, as a subject matter expert, and externally with iwi and community partners across the Aotearoa New Zealand landscape.Te huarahi tika The expected pathway As Senior Partnerships Advisor- Iwi you will :Lead tikanga in our internal and external workValue relationships and a-kanohi as mana-enhancing engagement practicesNurture cultural confidence within Te Tari PurekeFront reo rangatira to engage our relationships, and with our partnersAdopt inclusive thinking and behaviours with a for, by, and with Maori' mindset to realise Te Tiriti complianceConsult with our partners early to ensure their voices are truly heard Cultural competence is key in the role, and you will need a demonstratable understanding of Te Ao Maori and Matauranga Maori, a strong ability to operate effectively in a Maori cultural setting and proven understanding of and commitment to, the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.Takohanga Matua Key Accountabilities : Core Activities :Develop and deliver the pathways programmes (cultural safety, cultural intelligence, and cultural capability)Relationship lead, overseeing of engagement and partnerships with Hapu, Maori, and the Maori firearms communitiesDeliver on-time, at-need service requests and queriesAdopt a continuous improvement approach to all activities and insight-sharingUtilise kaupapa Maori methodology to articulate commentary on operational policy, legislation implementation, and administration best practice.Provide a relevant and independent Ao Maori, Te Tiriti, and community perspectiveMake our work transparent and visible Teaching Activities :Teach, coordinate, and administer modules, courses, and workshops aligned to the Te tari Pureke cultural capability action plan;aligned to Whainga Amorangi.Conduct tikanga-based and a-iwi informed teaching. Develop content and curricula in collaboration with colleagues.Participate and contribute to ongoing Te Tari Pureke activities aimed at furthering Matauranga a-hapu based teaching within Te Tira Takitahi and across the enterprise.Everyday service delivery or strategic advice as required by the Kotui Whanake Maori and / or Director for Partnerships.Service Delivery Activities :Develop and embed cultural practices across the enterprise that elevate the mana of Tangata whenua, ensuring alignment with Te Tiriti principles.Proven experience in delivering cultural capability programs.Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.Excellent facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and create a supportive learning environment.Provide a-hapu and a-iwi cultural / tikanga leadership, guidance and support for directorate activities and events, both internally and externally.Work in a culturally safe and respectful manner, incorporating the articles of Te Tiriti, and demonstrating mindfulness of the cultural diversity of our communities in all interactions. What you'll bring :A developed and refined practice in cultural safety, cultural intelligence (data interpretation), and cultural capability delivery.Strong ability to operate effectively in a variety of Maori cultural settings across leading, supporting, and advising capacities.Proven understanding of and commitment to the supporting of hapu mana motuhake and tino rangatiratanga with relation to safe firearms usage aligned to Te Tiriti best practice.An ability to articulate implications, scope of influence, and engagement with Te Tiriti in the Aotearoa New Zealand regulatory philosophy context.Proven ability to take a strategic, proactive approach in the management of reputation issues, internal and external partners, and relationship engagement.The skill set to identify and understand internal and external partner and community needs.Proven ability to actively engage with a broad range of external and internal partners to shape engagement approaches.
