About the role
The Waikato District, bordering both Auckland and Hamilton, is experiencing both high growth and an increasing diversity of road use across the network. These are exciting times and we are seeking a dedicated and driven Transport Manager to lead our roading team in the Service Delivery group to help us meet the challenges ahead.
This role reports to the General Manager Service Delivery and will suit someone who has the drive and desire to move the business in a more strategic direction, whilst maintaining day to day management of the roading portfolio.
Our roading team is responsible for the cost effective, efficient and safe maintenance, operation, improvement and ongoing development of the District's roading network. This includes working closely with our key delivery partners, the Waikato District Roading Alliance, Waka Kotahi (New Zealand Transport Agency), developers and other contractors.
As the ideal candidate, you will be a strong natural leader that empowers, supports and looks out for others. You will have extensive leadership, management, budgeting and technical experience delivering roading network maintenance, planning and development to support growth. Council's Policies, Procedures and standards are your foundations for coaching and leading a successful Roading team. Ensuring your teams health and wellbeing is a primary focus for you, something that you consciously role model regularly to the team and those you engage with in the role as a Transport Manager.
