Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
The purpose of this role within New Zealand Food Safety Verification Services is to provide a range of food safety, animal welfare and biosecurity verification and certification services based at meat exporting premises. To support the meat industry and New Zealand's reputation in the world red meat market for the product produced and to ensure food safety and export standards are being followed by the premises.
We have an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys problem solving and enhancing their relationships with others with effective communication.
The role is varied, and your day will be filled with the following:
You will receive full-time technical training prior to being warranted under the relevant legislation. We have ongoing, on-site training, mentoring and technical support for you in your new role.

Mō tō mātou Rōpū - About the Team
The Team Manager Establishment for Palmerston North is looking for a NZ registered Veterinarian to join the team in a Veterinary Technical Supervisor 2 role based in the Manawatū. The role sits within the Establishment group of the Verification Services directorate. MPI Verification Services (MPI VS) provides a range of food safety and biosecurity verification and certification services to support market access strategies and setting standards. This role is suitable to an entry level veterinarian or clinical veterinarian looking for a career change.
Once trained you will assist in providing verification to the two meat processing premises at ME119 (ANZCO Bulls ) and ME32 (AFFCO Feilding) . These plants are cattle processing plants and Bulls works a single shift while AFFCO Feilding runs two shifts for much of the year. You will also contribute to the team's on-farm verification and other premises in the area when needed.
As the VTS2, you will be working closely with supportive and experienced VTS1 supervisors, and a regional team of 20 veterinarians reporting to the Team Manager. Hours of work will mainly be dayshift 10 hours a day, 4 days a week . Any overtime is compensated and early starts, or late finishes are recognised with penal time payments, as well as shift leave accumulation.
