Based in Hokitika on the South Island’s beautiful West Coast, surrounded by the natural beauty of mountains, with the river and lakes nearby, this is an opportunity to be part of and contribute to a growing vibrant community.
The Westland Welcoming Communities Co-ordinator will coordinate a range of welcoming activities for migrants and others new to the Westland District to support positive social, economic and cultural outcomes for the Westland community. You will build links between locals and newcomers, facilitate access to services and supports and organise events and activities to promote a welcoming environment for all.
The Welcoming Communities Programme is a Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment initiative with established resources and documentation to support effective delivery and reporting.
This role is for up to 32 hours per week with the potential for one or more positions across the Westland District i.e.16 hours South Westland and 16 hours Hokitika. Actual hours/location can be negotiated with the successful applicant.

have excellent networks and connections within the Westland community including with community groups, agencies, services and other stakeholders. Knowledge of the newcomer and migrant community sector would be an advantage.
