Timely and SalonBiz serve over 24,000 customers in 100 countries. We provide booking and client management software and are on a mission to build the leading platform for beauty professionals. As a Lead Database Reliability Engineer, you’re part of a team with responsibility for our databases and data storage infrastructure that our Wellness Solutions (Timely and SalonBiz ) applications, users, and staff rely on.  You’ll be passionate about working in the data space, with a proven track recor d of delivering solid and thoughtful solutions using current methodologies and technologies.  As a SaaS company, there is an onus on us to provide both customer and business stakeholders with solid, real time insights, as well as a 24/7 stable data platform to operate from. You are key to this - ready to provide innovative, scalable and secure solutions to fulfil data and operational needs, thereby supporting our product teams as they deliver new features. Responsibilities: Drive data strategy and data pra ctices for how our databases work, scale and are used . Capacity planning and performance tuning of the database platfo r m s . Carry out database related project work (e.g. writing migration scripts, procs, DDL etc) . Manage high risk data deployments and post-deploy monitoring. Assist development teams in a consultancy role for identifying risks and proposing solutions around data base reliability . Work with the data team and product teams to constantly improve data operational engineering practices. Maintain awareness of trends and emerging technologies in relevant fields and propose to Wellness Solutions when fit. Advocate for, and apply Devops and SRE principles across Wellness engineering teams. Grow and mentor other Data professionals. Skills and Experience needed to be successful: The ability to operate autonomously. This means you can prioritise your time effectively and make independent decisions, but you’ll know when to seek guidance/help when needed . Be a subject matter expert in Database reliability and management and be able to coach others . A solid, senior grasp of relational database (Ideally SQL Server) principles & best practices (specifically Azure SQL) and some knowledge of Oracle . Expertise or strong affinity with T-SQL Familiarity or a willingness to learn object oriented programming, scripting and infrastructure as code languages e.g. Python, Powershell , Terraform. Include peripheral aspects when delivering solutions: Monitoring, alerting, automation, documentation & knowledge sharing We work in agile “squads ”, with a range of SCRUM and Kanban practices.
