The Mental Health & Addiction directorate at the Ministry of Health works to ensure these services are strong, sustainable and safe for all New Zealanders. Our focus is on delivering to the priority programmes and initiatives in response to He Ara Oranga – The Inquiry and Budget 19.
Our Group Manager Primary & Community Wellbeing and their team are responsible for delivering and implementing those initiatives, including expanding the access and choice New Zealanders have to primary mental health and addiction services, and supporting primary and community based mental health services including Piki and Mana Ake.
This Group Manager requires an Executive Assistant who delivers high quality and timely support. It’s a diverse role with no two days alike. You will be coordinating and managing diaries and meetings, producing reports and presentations, managing finance and invoice processing, booking and managing travel, and more. Your knowledge of what’s happening across the team, how to navigate processes and where to find information means that you will be the ‘go to person’ for your manager and their direct reports. You will need to enjoy diversity and be able to work flexibly and self-direct as you will have a manager who works remotely from the rest of the team some of the time.
We will love your skill and capability in managing priorities and identifying risks for your manager. We’ll applaud your confidence and ability to work in a complex and ever changing environment where we work with a lot of grey. Establishing relationships and maintaining them in order to achieve desired outcomes will be critical to your success. You’ll also be a bit of a creative in terms of problem solving and contributing to process improvement and implementation. Your discretion, sensitivity and mature approach to working with people from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds is important.
