We have an exciting new role for a Fitness and Wellbeing Trainer at Christchurch Women’s Prison, working with women to enhance their wellbeing through comprehensive fitness, health and wellbeing education programmes. This is a pivotal position to help influence positive changes in behaviour that come from improved health and wellness.
In this role you will plan, organise and deliver a range of group fitness classes and sports activities for women who are a range of ages, fitness levels and abilities, including women with particular needs such as pregnant women or those with injuries. Providing support and advice around nutrition, healthy living, including living on a budget, you will be uniquely placed to positively influence women in a long term, constructive way
To be successful in this position you will have knowledge of a wide range of sports and fitness techniques and sound experience planning and delivering classes and activities. We are also seeking someone who can demonstrate effective communication skills. We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate a successful track record in leading and motivating people to overcome obstacles and work positively with challenging situations and people.
Candidates require a Physical Education or other relevant qualification – and teaching or health sciences qualifications would be desirable. Current First Aid Certificate and a clean and current driver’s licence is also mandatory as travel to other prisons where women are placed may be required.
Hours of work at Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm.
