Future Director - Institute of Directors (IoD) The Institute of Directors (IoD) board is on a mission to cultivate a vibrant and diverse pipeline of emerging directors in Aotearoa New Zealand, and one of the key opportunities is for a 'Future Director' to join the IoD Board.  About the IoD: The IoD is the driving force behind good governance standards across New Zealand. Our organisation empowers and inspires directors by providing access to unparalleled networks, cutting-edge tools, invaluable insights, and renowned resources and training.  We are an incorporated society, with an independent Board responsible for charting and overseeing our strategic course. Alongside, our National Council serves as the guardian and kaitiaki of our organisation, ensuring members' needs are not just heard but actively championed. Our member network comprises 10,500+ members spanning various sectors, from private and public to not-for-profit, NZX-listed, community, and iwi entities, offering a extensive community for members to connect to, and a breadth of perspectives,, experiences and insights. Your Role as a 'Future Director' Our successful 'Future Director' will gain invaluable hands-on experience and mentorship that will shape your future as a director. You'll actively participate in all Board meetings, contributing to discussions and bringing your unique perspective, ideas, and experiences to the table. While you won't hold voting rights or the legal designation of a director, the insights you glean and the connections you forge will be important assets on your journey toward governance excellence. Skills & Experience We're looking for someone who Is an IoD member on the path to becoming Chartered, eager to make a difference to the governance landscape. Brings a wealth of experience in not-for-profit sector governance. Champions diversity and inclusion, ensuring our Board reflects our future members. Has executive experience in marketing, people development, digital/technology, or membership/loyalty realms, ready to contribute fresh perspectives. Has completed the Company Directors' Course or other formal governance training.  Shares our passion for strengthening connections with Maori, Pacifica and Asian members and partners, enriching our organisation's purpose. There are approximately 6 Board meetings per year and held every 6 - 8 weeks, as well as an AGM. Board meetings are split between online and in-person which are usually held in Wellington. The Future Director will be welcome to join a Board Committee where relevant. Remuneration and expenses This role is not remunerated however expenses will be covered. The Future Director will also be supported with development and encouraged to attend IoD events, and the 2025 Leadership Conference.  Term and commencement date This is an 18-month term starting mid-June to coincide with the IoD's AGM, held in Hamilton on 19 June.  Closing date and next steps Applications close on 10 April 2024.
