Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity The Cytology Laboratory at APS transitioned to the NCSP HPV primary screening in September 2023. The cytology department at APS and has a high workload processing self-collected vaginal swabs and Liquid based Cytology clinician collected samples for the detection of high risk human papilloma virus. Scientists are involved in the pre-analytical processing of the specimens with the responsibility of directing the participants' sample as per the NCSP Clinical practice Guidelines for Cervical Screening. The position also requires the applicant to have extensive knowledge and experience in reporting non-gynaecological cytology. This is a full time position Monday to Friday with the flexibility to work weekends dependent on workload. For further details, please refer to the position description here. Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills: Registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) Experience in Cervical cytology pre and post the new HPV primary screening era and Non-gynaecological cytology Knowledge, experience, and understanding of the new NCSP Clinical Practice Guidelines for cervical screening and the NCSP policies and standards for providing a laboratory service Completed the NCPTS HPV Primary Screening training modules/competencies and/or equivalent international experience Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills Strong attention to detail and time management with a focus on quality Ability to work in a fast-paced and busy environment We are a values based and inclusive organisation that is committed to deliver the best health outcomes for our total population.
