The University of Otago, International Office has student exchange agreements with over 130 partner universities worldwide, and the Otago Global Student Exchange Programme supports Otago students to study overseas at one of our partners for one or two semesters as part of their Otago degree.
The role/Te mahi
We are looking for a motivated person with an interest in delivering exceptional student experiences to join our International Mobility and Partnerships Team as a Student Exchange Adviser.
As a Student Exchange Adviser, you will provide the following:
• Expert advice and assistance to students through the various stages of their exchange application journey.
• Actively promote the Otago Global Student Exchange Programme.
• Assess student applications.
• Place students at a suitable partner institution.
• Provide support to students throughout their overseas study.
You will have responsibility for a specific global region and manage relationships on behalf of Otago with our exchange partners around the world.
You will deal mainly with Otago students wanting to study overseas, but you’ll also be responsible for international students nominated to study at Otago on exchange.
This is a varied and positive role, focused on assisting students through a rewarding personal-growth part of their Otago degree.

We welcome applications from self-motivated and highly organized professionals with previous experience working with students.
Our ideal candidate will be energetic and friendly, and able to provide a high level of customer service, with excellent time management and impeccable communication and presentation skills.
They will be known for their initiative, excellent attention to detail, and their commitment to collaboration and consultation.
Social media skills and digital competence would be an advantage, as would experience travelling/studying/living overseas, and interacting with people from a range of cultural backgrounds.
