About the role

The Next Generation Critical Communications business unit is responsible for critical communication and application capability which underpin the delivery of essential services by multiple agencies.

The business unit has a programme for replacing Emergency Services critical radio networks with modern broadband communications in order to better support and deliver frontline services.   Critical communications are an essential tool as they underpin safety, health and wellbeing outcomes for New Zealanders.

 

What you’ll be doing

To support the delivery of these outcomes the Executive Assistant will provide support to assist the NGCC Lead Entity Director and administration of the business unit. You will be an experienced EA who has provided assistant to executive level assistance on busy projects with multiple demands. Though this is a 12 month fixed term opportunity, the programme of work will give you three years of experience in 12 months!

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of programme and project planning and methodologies
  • Excellent IT skills including in-depth experience with Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio), SAP, project planning software (Microsoft project) and Cisco WebEx
  • An understanding of project accounting, including capitalisation, accruals, forecasting and invoicing
  • Solid understanding of general HR, Property and ICT processes

 

 

Experience:

  • At least ten years’ experience working in roles spread across project coordination, executive assistance, administration and management.
  • At least five years’ experience working on projects or programmes
  • At least two years working in a role supporting an executive (CEO, DCE, GM)
  • Government sector experience including working across agency programmes/projects would be an advantage
  • Experience in project budgeting, financial tracking, financial forecasting and reporting
  • Desktop publishing experience is needed
